Eight Medical Corp., developers of the most advanced intraperitoneal hyperthermia device for cancer treatment, announced today the appointment of Jesus Esquivel, M.D. to the company’s Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Esquivel brings more than 20 years of clinical experience to his role, including extensive expertise in the field of peritoneal surface malignancies, tumors that originated in the appendix, colon, rectum, stomach, or ovaries and spread to the peritoneal surfaces of the abdominal cavity.
Following his General Surgery training program, Dr. Esquivel completed a two year fellowship in Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncology and Cytoreductive Surgery with Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Perfusion at the Washington Cancer Institute in Washington, D.C. After completing this fellowship in 1999, Dr. Esquivel remained at the Washington Cancer Institute until December 2004 when he moved to St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Md. to become the Director of the Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Program.
Dr. Esquivel's practice at St. Agnes Hospital is focused exclusively on Peritoneal Surface Malignancies of the appendix, colon, ovary, stomach and peritoneal mesothelioma. Dr. Esquivel has helped author more than 50 scientific articles in peer-reviewed publications on advanced cancer treatment, has contributed multiple book chapters on peritoneal malignancies and the use of hyperthermia in cancer care, and has lectured extensively on the subject both nationally and internationally. Dr. Esquivel is currently the President of the American Society of Peritoneal Surface Malignancies.
