Recruitment is a two way process – you need to sell your company/vacancy to prospective employees in the same way you expect them to sell their skills and achievements to you when applying for positions
Manchester (PRWEB UK) 4 April 2013
Making a consistent effort to attract the best people to a business is a simple way to ensure it grows on a consistent and long-term basis, recruitment expert Laura-Jane Sarkodee has said in a new Find the Edge article.
The article discusses the problems caused by neglecting this area of recruitment, and gives advice concerning methods for companies to improve their current processes.
Key to consistently bringing the right people in is to proactively look for talent, instead of simply expect it to walk through the door.
She said: "Recruitment is a two way process – you need to sell your company/vacancy to prospective employees in the same way you expect them to sell their skills and achievements to you when applying for positions.
"With the constantly increasing availability of information on the internet, individuals are becoming evermore savvy and mobile in the job market.
"In short, they now have more choices and improved access to the best jobs available, where previously they did not."
This means companies have to work harder to attract the best.
In order to capture the top talent, she provides eight tips that can make a real difference to recruitment success. Among these is the need to exploit social networks, create a clear message and analyse the strategies of competitors.
She also stresses the importance of considering the type of people the company wants to attract, and creating a long-term approach.
She said: "Essentially, your recruitment strategies should mirror your sales and marketing strategies.
"The outcomes may not be immediately tangible in the form of increased revenue but, ultimately, with great people working for you – your business will thrive and grow on a long-term basis."
