Greenberg Traurig’s New Jersey office Named NJLJ’s Litigation Department of the Year for General Litigation

The litigation team in the New Jersey office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, has been named that state’s 2013 General Litigation Department of the Year by the New Jersey Law Journal (NJLJ). The publication reviews litigation departments at law firms across the state of New Jersey and recognizes the strongest departments based on talent, client work, community involvement and pro bono initiatives. According to the NJLJ “Greenberg Traurig led the field” among New Jersey firms in its ability to apply “best practices to its work – not just in management of resources and technology, but also in strategic and logistic decision making.” “Another indicia of best practices is the firm’s innovation of alternative billing methods.”

“We are pleased to receive this important award and thank our clients for their trust and confidence in us,” said Philip Sellinger, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Litigation Practice and founder and co-managing Shareholder of the firm’s New Jersey office. In his capacity as co-chair of the firm’s Global Litigation Practice, Sellinger helps determine and develop firm-wide best practices for the litigation team.

“We take great satisfaction in being able to offer our clients, not only litigation experience across a wide spectrum of practice areas and industries, but also a unique array of seasoned trial lawyers drawn from a broad base of talent,” said Geoffrey Berman, co-managing shareholder in New Jersey.

The NJLJ also recognized Greenberg Traurig for its pro bono work in New Jersey, noting: “This well-tuned litigation machine is also adept at devoting its resources to pro bono work.” Greenberg Traurig attorneys in New Jersey have represented clients in matters relating to domestic violence, immigrants’ rights, prisoner’s rights and criminal appeals.

Greenberg Traurig’s National Litigation Practice is the firm’s largest practice group with approximately 600 attorneys, 27 of who are located in New Jerseys 70-lawyer office. According to the NJLJ, “New Jersey litigators are equipped to work with other litigators throughout the firm regardless of physical location, which allows local clients to take full advantage of the firm’s broad geographic reach and depth of subject area expertise.”
