Natural resources stocks, as measured by the Rogers-Van Eck Hard Assets Producers Index (TICKER: RVEI), declined -0.53% in the month of March. Commodity producer stocks, however, remained up +1.17% year-to-date through March 29, 2013.
Paper and Forest Products companies were the best performers in March, with the sector rising +3.51%. Metals were the worst performers, with the Base/Industrial Metals sector declining -8.13% and the precious Metals sector declining -1.08%.
Index fundamentals remain strong, with EPS forecasted to rise +18.34% over the next twelve months, compared to +9.95% for the S&P 500. Dividend yield is forecasted to rise +8.70% over the next twelve months, compared to +5.24% for the S&P 500.
The index price/earnings ratio is forecasted to drop from 14.24 to 12.03.
