Synchrono, leading the movement in demand-driven manufacturing software, is introducing SyncKanban, a pull-based inventory replenishment system at the MDM BIOMEDevice/Design and Manufacturing conference in Boston, April 10-11.

Based on Lean and Just-in-Time (JIT) principles, SyncKanban software gives manufacturers in even highly complex environments the ability to respond instantly to changes in demand while maintaining minimal inventories. The software does this by aligning inventory levels with actual consumption in real-time, sending demand signals to suppliers to replenish parts as needed. These signals are tracked through the replenishment cycle, bringing visibility to both the manufacturer and its supplier. In doing so, SyncKanban allows manufacturers to meet high throughput demands with minimal inventory, eliminating the costs of overproduction and waste while reducing administration overhead.

The Kanban process was originally introduced by the Toyota Motor Company in effort to create a flow-based environment on its assembly line by utilizing parts and components based on demand or work orders. A kanban contains information on the part or component tracked and the point at which to reorder. The kanban may be physical – a card, labeled container or parts bin – or it may be a computer system-generated demand signal, as is the case with SyncKanban.

SyncKanban will also actively manage kanbans for manufacturers by automatically resizing kanbans based on inventory consumption. The pull-signal data captured by the system also provides reliable information for forecasting.

Included with the software is an online module for supplier relationship management. Through a secure site, suppliers have real-time visibility of consumption and receive system-generated signals for reordering. This fluid process reduces administrative purchase order paperwork, saving time and freeing procurement to focus on developing strategic supplier relationships.

SyncKanban software is web-based and easily integrates with existing ERP, CRM and financial systems. The application is sold on a SaaS-based subscription model.
