Opening Day at Museum Village is set for Saturday, April 13. All of the buildings on the green will be open and our staff of costumed interpreters will be looking forward to greeting our visitors. The Blacksmith, Broom Maker, Printer and Candle Shop will all be busy with their trades. And you can visit the Drug Store, Merritt General Store, Log Cabin, School House and all the other buildings. Also, be sure to stop and visit the Mid-Hudson Woodcarvers in the Salt Box House.
In addition, the Museum will also have the Grand Opening of a new Florescent Mineral Exhibit located in the Natural History Building. A ribbon cutting will be held at 12:00N.
“This exhibit is something very new to the Museum”, says Michael Sosler, Managing Director of Museum Village. “In addition to being quite amazing, this exhibit proves how the Museum partners with the community. The cabinet that houses the fluorescent minerals was an Eagle Scout Project built by Arison Alquiros from Troop 416, Washingtonville, NY and the minerals are being donated by the Orange County Mineral Society. You certainly won’t want to miss it!”
Also, on Opening Day, the winning raffle ticket for the LED 47” Flat Screen Television will be drawn.
“Our staff and volunteers have been working all winter to insure a great 2013 Season”, added Sosler. “We have so much going on and are looking forward to Opening Day and a busy rest of the year.”
