Blogging Opportunities and Challenges are Focus of Kauffman Foundation’s Fifth Annual Economics Bloggers Forum

Leading economics, technology and finance bloggers discuss the future of blogging and journalism. Watch Web Cast Live, April 12, 2013 8:30 a.m. – 4: 00 p.m. CDT

Taking their provocative online discussions face to face, leading economics bloggers will gather for the fifth annual Economics Bloggers Forum at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation on April 12, 2013. The forum will be streamed live at from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CDT.

This year’s forum will look back at the development of the weblogging conversation and explore future opportunities and challenges that await.

Following a welcome address by weblogger Brad Delong, professor of Economics, University of California at Berkeley, the forum will begin with a keynote panel discussion on economics and financial weblogging and its future. Moderated by Kansas City, Mo., Mayor Sly James, panelists include Hal Varian, chief economist at Google, and Joshua Gans, the Jeffrey Skoll Chair in Technical Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

Topics to follow include discussions about new modes and orders in education; the tools, networks and communities webloggers will use in the future; the future and sustainability of financial and mainstream journalism and weblogging; and weblogging issues for “ivy-covered” academia.
