Aberdeen’s AberDailies is Poised to Change the Way M&E Handles On-Set, Near-Set and Post-Production Digital Files

What used to be an entire short rack is now neatly packaged in a single 4U AberDailies enclosure.

At NAB 2013, Aberdeen is proudly unveiling and showcasing the AberDailies, a GPU/application server specifically designed for the Media and Entertainment industry. Several AberDailies units will be in Aberdeen’s Booth N4919 running various media applications, including 4K file manipulation and display, from April 8 through April 11, 2013 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This revolutionary 4U server finds itself at home running dailies management, color correction and deliverable creation in the on-set and near-set production environments, and equally at home running editorial, color correction and VFX applications in the post-production environment.

Aberdeen has combined the input of many industry leaders and customized the AberDailies to optimize its performance in the full gambit of M&E applications. For example, MTI Film provided many insights which aided greatly in the AberDailies’ development. The AberDailies running MTI Film’s Cortex::Control Dailies application delivers an unparalleled high performance, cost effective solution of on-set/near-set and facility environment for dailies data management, color correction and deliverables creation. Previous hardware deployed for this application required workstations with external storage arrays and external peripherals filling up an entire short rack, all of which are now neatly packaged in a single 4U AberDailies enclosure.

  •     Optional Input Slots for RED, Sony and/or Canon Cards
  •     Optional HDD, LTO or Blu-ray

While being formally unveiled at NAB 2013, as announced here, AberDailies units are already deployed by MTI Film with Cortex::Control Dailies on the A&E Network TV Series “Longmire” and at post-production facilities running DaVinci Resolve and Assimilate Scratch. An AberDailies is also slated to soon take over the server duties at the Sony Digital Motion Picture Center (DMPC).
