Our business planning work is about true organizational capacity-building...we're gaining new understanding, skills, and strategies to better prepare our organization to face the challenges of an ever changing landscape of resources and community needs.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 09, 2013
No Margin, No Mission™, the social enterprise and national consulting practice that helps organizations with a social mission diversify revenue, expand impact, and build a lasting future through entrepreneurship, innovation, & business strategy, announced the addition of several new clients to its rapidly expanding practice. Among No Margin, No Mission's recent wins are nonprofits in Colorado, Florida, New York, and Washington, which include Catalyst Miami, Generation Schools Network, Health Council of South Florida, IDignity, Lotus House Women's Shelter, and Washington Women's Employment & Education (WWEE).
No Margin, No Mission has established a much-needed niche to help nonprofits identify entrepreneurial ways to gain financial stability and independence by reducing their dependence on grants and donations. This is particularly important as the economic challenges of recent years have left many organizations unable to grow, thrive, or even survive. Operating from the premise that many nonprofits have created assets of value that can be sold to other stakeholders to help generate financial resources for their organization -- such as curriculum, trainings, keynote speaking engagements, consulting, and a whole host of other offerings -- No Margin, No Mission helps leaders apply innovative thinking, entrepreneurial practices, and business strategy to generate new income sources, diversify revenue, and expand impact.
According to Larry Clark, co-founder and Managing Partner of No Margin, No Mission's Western U.S. office, "It is a privilege to be working with such tremendously innovative and entrepreneurial nonprofit leaders from all around the nation who believe in the power of revenue diversification and business strategy to plan for the future of their organizations." Mr. Clark continued, "With an economic environment that continues to challenge the nonprofit sector, these leaders understand that innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity are essential to the evolution and long-term growth of their organizations, and that they can no longer rely on an approach that is business as usual."
Among their new clients, there is agreement that No Margin, No Mission offers a fresh, innovative, and highly valuable expertise that is not widely available from other consulting practices. According to Constance Collins, Director of Lotus House Women's Shelter in Miami, "We've discovered to our delight that working with No Margin, No Mission offers several outcomes integral to advancing our mission." Collins continued, "Their unique method of practice, along with their user-friendly and valuable tools and resources, offers a very practical means of business planning which is as important as the end result, all of which are beginning to inform many other aspects of our organization."
Wendy Piersee, Chief Executive Officer of Generation Schools Network in Denver and New York City, echoed a similar belief by saying, "Our business planning work with No Margin, No Mission is about true organizational capacity-building, and our entire team is gaining new understanding, skills, and strategies to better prepare our organization to face the challenges of an ever changing landscape of resources and needs in our communities." Piersee continued, "We view our work with No Margin, No Mission as a critical investment in our future, and look forward to growing our margin so we can expand our mission to transform public education by driving student achievement and teacher effectiveness."
No Margin, No Mission's work for their new clients includes a combination of entrepreneurial activities and initiatives:
-Its engagements with Catalyst Miami, Health Council of South Florida, and Lotus House Women's Shelter, all in Miami, grew out of an Earned Income Training and Business Planning Initiative that was funded by Allegany Franciscan Ministries to provide technical assistance and consultation for 16-weeks to each organization focused on development of a business plan for an earned income offering.
-In February, work began with Orlando, Florida-based IDignity to develop a business plan for expansion of their highly innovative and effective model designed to help the disadvantaged in Central Florida overcome the difficulties in obtaining personal identification.
-Work is currently underway to help Denver and New York City-based Generation Schools Network develop a business plan for expansion of its innovative and breakthrough Public Education Model as a way to expand the margin and mission of the organization.
-Business plan development for Washington Women's Employment & Education (WWEE) was launched in March to help this Tacoma, Washington-based organization expand and grow one of its key earned income offerings that helps women and men create better lives for themselves and their families by teaching them the skills to find and keep jobs.
