It has been reported in HVP that the project is being funded by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and will work to consider how the walls are performing, both before and after insulation is installed. The study will also look into the energy using behaviour of the properties’ occupants, in its attempts to identify reasons behind the difference between the energy savings predicted and those actually achieved.
Undertaking a series of lab test and surveys on homes throughout Britain, the research project is expected to run for two and a quarter years.
Best known for their Brixton emergency plumbers, Plumber 24 Hours also specialises in gas heating and safety and as such the team were naturally interested by the latest news. A representative from the firm shares their thoughts on the matter.
“With the cold weather we have seen recently, naturally there has been a higher demand for boiler repair and installation. With the current economic situation and the fact that gas and energy bills are constantly rising, it is clearly a priority for families to ensure their homes are as energy efficient as possible.
“If this new project is successful, hopefully work can get underway to make as many homes as possible more energy efficient as possible.”
