It has been reported in HVP that the project has been designed to study how walls in solid wall homes performed with and without insulation, using a series of laboratory tests, as well as surveys looking into the energy use behaviour of residents. The research will also look into the accuracy of techniques for measuring heat loss in homes. Funded by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the project is expected to run for two and a quarter years.

Renowned for their Southwark plumbers, We Fix Now also specialises in Gas Safe Registered engineers and are often called upon for their help installing and repairing gas boilers. As such the team were pleased to hear about the new project. A representative shares their thoughts on the matter.

“To ensure people aren’t wasting money through lost heat it is important to make homes as energy efficient as possible. This study will hopefully determine the differences between the energy savings predicted and those achieved.”
