The corporate finance team from ArcelorMittal in Luxembourg initiated a project with the clear goal to increase the value to the company by optimising its existing SAP environment. In contrast to a more IT related project, corporate finance focused on analysing the current business processes and establishing a business case for each area of improvement identified. This approach ensured measurable improvements resulting in process efficiency.
West Trax and ArcelorMittal established a frame agreement allowing ArcelorMittal entities to globally call for the services of West Trax to analyse the main SAP systems and come up with detailed recommendations for optimising business processes with SAP standard functionality; and to establish a business case for implementing the recommendations.
DELL Services was the consulting partner of West Trax for this assignment.

Currently the major SAP instances have been reviewed for two main processes namely “Procure to Pay” & “Order to Cash”. Improvements identified establish a business case for their implementation.
All recommendations are hosted in a ‘bench marking cockpit’ created by West Trax with access to all locations. This paves the way for benchmarking processes across locations and assists continuous improvement. This also serves as a knowledge data base at process level and assists reconfiguring and implementing best practices. This will ultimately help the company to achieve a fair level of standardisation in these core processes.
