Compassion International Hosts Live Events on Church’s Role in Protecting Children

Global experts gather to discuss child protection.

Compassion International will host church leaders and Christian educators on April 13 for presentations and round-table discussions on the Church’s role in protecting children. The live broadcast event will begin at 9:30 a.m. MDT and can be viewed by any interested party online.

Attendees will hear from global experts from Compassion International and International Justice Mission on the subject of: What is the global Church’s role in protecting and developing vulnerable children? Afterwards, leaders are encouraged to discuss how to advocate for children, how the Bible guides the Church to care for children and how international non-governmental organizations and churches can partner to protect children.

Topics and speakers for the event include:

  •     The Theology of the Child—Dr. Dan Brewster, holistic child development academic programs director for Compassion International
  •     Child Advocacy—Menchit Wong, Lausanne Movement senior associate for children at risk and child advocacy director for Compassion International
  •     The Church and Children—Dr.Bambang Budijanto, 4/14 Window steering chair and vice president of Asia region for Compassion International
  •     Beyond Trafficking: How Thai Children Are Gaining Protection That Prevents the Nightmare—Bethany Hoang, Institute for Biblical Justice director for International Justice Mission and Naomi Cramer Overton, USA advocacy director for Compassion International

The day concludes at 12:45 p.m. MDT with a case study on how two faith-based non-governmental organizations are partnering to protect children from child trafficking.
