Columbus Recruiting Firm's Placements in Construction and Title Industries More Than Doubled

Demand for professionals in the construction, development and title industries surged in 2012 and continues to be strong as the housing market rebounds, Search Point Unlimited President Kelly Martin told contract staffing back-office provider Top Echelon® Contracting. The firm has already placed several professionals in these industries in the first quarter of 2013.

Reports that the housing market is finally rebounding seem to be holding true for recruiting firm Search Point Unlimited, LLC. The firm has experienced a surge in the placement of professionals in the construction, development, and title industries, according to President Kelly Martin.

CNN.com has reported that the sale of new homes is at the highest level since July 2008. Factors such as low mortgage rates, a decrease in the number of foreclosures, low supply of available properties, and a general improvement in the economy have helped drive the rebound.

As a result, Martin said job searches in these industries more than doubled in 2012 over what they have seen in the past few years, and they have already placed several title and development professionals in the first quarter of 2013. Specifically, she is noticing an increased demand for positions such as construction accounting managers, AP specialists, property managers, and commercial lease assistants in the development/construction sector. In the title area, the top positions include escrow processors, assistant processors, senior processors, commitment typists, and sales and marketing coordinators. Martin said one client in particular in the title industry has been doing a lot of hiring.

“We have a search now for an assistant processor, and I had two contract people helping this client all last summer because they were so busy,” she said.

Search Point Unlimited, a local market recruiting firm based in Columbus, Ohio, has the ability to fill all of these positions. Rather than focusing on a narrow niche, Search Point Unlimited can handle a wide range of operational staffing needs, including administration, sales, accounting, finance, and managerial. They also have the ability to place contractors in addition to direct hires. They place their contractors through the contract staffing back-office services of Top Echelon Contracting.

“What is unique about us is that we serve companies fully, up down and sideways throughout the organization,” Martin said. “When a client company needs a contractor, they need someone really good. I know these candidates. I know who I’m sending in to my clients. We’re not just a volume temp house.”

They pride themselves on the partnerships they establish with clients through on-site, face-to-face meetings and strive to act as an extension of clients’ human resources and recruiting departments.

“I meet all of my clients,” said Martin, who has been recruiting for over 21 years and has interviewed more than 10,000 candidates in that time. “I see their facilities and learn their culture. I kind of get a sense of what works there. I get a gut feeling whether a person will fit in there. It’s not just matching skill sets to a position, it’s matching a person to an organization.”

Search Point Unlimited also has the ability to provide additional resources to clients and candidates through their association with fellow recruiter Chris Brown and her firm, Employers Talent Source. While they operate separate firms, Martin and Brown work on most placements together.

“Any candidate coming through has access to my clients and services as well as Chris’ job opportunities through Employer’s Talent Source,” Martin said.
