the Lynda Spence case is full of revenge and violence that could have been sorted out without so much bloodshed. Instead of Miss Spence going to prison Coats, Wade and their two accomplices all ended up with hefty jail sentences and Spence was murdered.

According to the article allegedly Colin Coats and Philip Wade abducted, tortured over two weeks and then murdered Lynda Spence when they attempted to find out what happened to the money she conned out of them. She allegedly took £85,000 from father of four Coats and £2000 from bouncer and drug dealer Wade. Allegedly Lynda Spence also cheated other people when she set up a mortgage and lettings business where she ended up owing £180,000 to property developer John Glen.
The report goes on to say that allegedly around the time of her disappearance Miss Spence was being investigated for alleged fraud and had been recruited as an informant by the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency and the Serious Organised Crime Agency. Allegedly Mr Glen sent abusive texts and emails to Spence threatening to cut her fingers off if she did not return his money. She continued to lie to Coats about his money as through the torture he discovered that she had given his money to Mr Glen. Coats then decided to threaten Glen to get his money back and allegedly took Miss Spence’s amputated thumb in a plastic bag to persuade him. Mr Glen was very scared and called the police. Both Coats and Wade were sentenced to over thirty years in prison each by Lord Pentland at the High Court Glasgow.
