Key Division at Yamaha Corporation of America Poised for Growth

Yamaha Corporation of America (YCA), Band & Orchestra Division, today announced the promotion of Makoto Tani to Assistant General Manager.

    In his previous position, Mr. Tani served as Planning Manager in the division, where he took on many additional responsibilities on top of his regular duties, including the implementation of a new inventory planning system and acting as the liaison for the NAMM show.

    “Makoto has played an intricate role in the division’s success as a key member of the management staff and he will continue to help Yamaha grow into the future,” said Garth Gilman, General Manager, Band & Orchestral Division, YCA.

    Before arriving at YCA in November 2009, Mr. Tani served as Planning Manager for Yamaha Canada, where he played a key inventory management role for pianos, digital pianos, wind instruments, percussion and strings. Mr. Tani first joined Yamaha Corporation, Japan in 1998, beginning his career in overseas sales of electronic devices. He also worked in the company’s flagship retail store in the Ginza district of Tokyo. He is an accomplished koto player and teacher.
