Mr. Carter says the Bill will further erode the rights of elderly nursing home abuse victims in Florida.

Colling, Gilbert, Wright & Carter partner, Nathan Carter testified before the Florida Senate last week against a proposed tort reform statute that would make it even more difficult for abused and neglected nursing home residents to get justice. The specific statute that Mr. Carter testified against was a statute placing even further restrictions on punitive damages than already exist under Florida law.

Mr. Carter says the Bill (proposed bill number 1384) will further erode the rights of elderly nursing home abuse victims in Florida. According to Mr. Carter, the Bill is being pushed by the Nursing Home Industry and seeks to take away even more rights of elderly residents.

In an attempt to stand up for those vulnerable citizens, Mr. Carter faced tough questioning from some of the Senators. Mr. Carter’s testimony starts at approximately the 1:04 mark. http://www.flsenate.gov/media/videoplayer.cfm?EventID=2443575804_2013041007
