SAE's Music Business Program offers our students the most competitive, up-to-date business skills to prepare them for a career in today’s music industry.

SAE Institute continues to stay at the forefront in private post-secondary education for creative media technologies with the addition of their Music Business Program. Already networked as a global professional community through their established Audio Technology Program, the Music Business Program marks the first of several new entertainment media programs currently being developed by the college. SAE Institute Nashville is the first of seven U.S. campuses to rollout the program.

Graduates of the Music Business Program will be prepared for entry-level positions in the music industry, including recording labels, music publishing, and artist management. Course study includes recording company operations, music publishing, entertainment law, video production, multi-media technology, website development, marketing, distribution, and entrepreneurship. The Music Business Diploma level course is a one-year (36 credit hour) program. SAE offers a sixteen-month (60 credit hour) Associate Degree level program as well.

Last year, SAE hired music industry consultant Stephen McCord to advise, develop and chair the program. “As we considered candidates for the chair position, we knew Stephen would bring immediate relevance and credibility to the program. When you combine his past success as a music business employee with his current success as a music business owner, he represents the essence of our Music Business Program,” says Vice President of Operations, Chris Davie.

While preparing students for career opportunities within the existing industry infrastructure, SAE Institute's Music Business Program includes a focused study on entrepreneurship for students who may prefer to start-up their own entertainment business. “Hands down, SAE's Music Business Program offers one of the fastest tracks to acquiring the most competitive, up-to-date business skill sets for a career in today’s music industry,” declares McCord.

To maintain the program's competitive edge, McCord and his staff have assembled an all-star cast of industry advisors, faculty, and special guest lecturers for the 2013 program. The advisory committee includes senior analysts from leading trade publications, music technology companies, entertainment law firms, artist management teams, brand marketers, and music distributors. “Our program is focused on relevance and where the business is right now. We also study trends to determine where it’s going and our advisory members, faculty and curriculum reflect that competitive advantage,” says McCord.

In addition, the SAE Music Business Program boasts a smaller student-to-faculty ratio, which according to McCord has been another big attraction to the program. “Students and parents alike appreciate the smaller class sizes and easy access to faculty and facilities,” says McCord. “We believe this accessibility fosters a more intimate and overall better learning experience for our students.”

SAE is the largest college worldwide in creative media fields and currently has campuses / facilities in 56 cities in 23 countries. Since 1996, SAE has offered full university degrees through its global partnership with Middlesex University, London, United Kingdom, and in Australia through its co-operation with Southern Cross University.
