On April 10, Yumi Media, a food website devoted to delivering the latest and greatest in food news, recipes, and products to incorporate into your own healthy lifestyle, responds to an article published on Chicagoist by Amy Cavanaugh regarding the news of Wrigley Field introducing a vegetarian hotdog to its concession stands.
According to the article, Wrigley Field has added a vegetarian hotdog and a vegetarian chopped salad to its menus at concession stands. Wrigley Field already offers vegetarians menu choices with their veggie burger and a tempeh barbecue sandwich.
The article goes on to mention how in “2009, the stadium made PETA's list of the most vegetarian-friendly stadiums, clocking in at 10th and tying the Milwaukee Brewers' Miller Park, but was off the list by 2010.” Wrigley Field isn’t the only ball park offering fans more vegetarian choices. The menu for the Minnesota Twins includes a veggie taco, vegetarian mousse martinis, and a veggie stir-fry. The Detroit Tigers offer fans a veggie Italian sausage, and veggie riblets.
Yumi Media representative Justin Maas released a comment on the new vegetarian options being offered at Wrigley Field. “It’s great that ballparks are starting to offer such a wide variety of food options. It’s a win-win for both parties. Consumers have a ton of options to choose from and if they enjoy vegetarian food such as Quorn, they can take their good eating habits to the ballpark. Wrigley Field also benefits because now more consumers are able to buy food while watching a game.”
