Westbrook, ME CNG Station

We’re proud to be a part of this project and believe this facility will play a key role in opening up Maine for CNG use.

Businesses, municipalities and citizens of Westbrook, Maine and the surrounding communities will soon be able to fuel with compressed natural gas (CNG). American Natural Gas, LLC (ANG) announced the company is permitting and constructing a public, heavy-duty CNG fueling facility in Westbrook. The refueling station is already in development. The facility will serve Casella Waste, Westbrook and surrounding areas. Compared to current diesel trucks, these CNG-powered vehicles will benefit the community at-large by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particulate matter and noise. Perhaps more significantly, the new facility could spark systematic change, as additional businesses express interest in converting their fleets.

According to Maine Clean Communities Coordinator Steve Linnell, “A lot of people are really excited about the prospect of public CNG fueling.” Maine Clean Communities is one of nearly 100 Clean Cites Coalitions around the country that promote alternative fuels in transportation in order to reduce our use of imported petroleum as well as harmful emissions. Linnell continued his enthusiasm, saying, “ANG’s facility will provide an ideal location for businesses that are thinking of switching to CNG. Along with transit, trash trucks are the optimum fleet vehicles for realizing a return on investment.”

American Natural Gas, LLC is thrilled to launch this station and honored to be one of the first public CNG fueling facilities in Maine (and the first public station in the Westbrook-Portland region). Founder and CEO of American Natural Gas Drew West said, “We’re proud to be a part of this project and believe this facility will play a key role in opening up Maine for CNG use.”

The CNG facility will be located on County Road, Westbrook, ME and will accept all major bank and fleet cards. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
