Spartan Race hails executives and corporations that use obstacle course races as a way to get their employees in shape.

On April 11, Spartan Race highlights corporations that promote employee heath by encouraging them to participate in obstacle course races.

Corporations and executives often use Spartan Races as a way to motivate their employees and get them into shape. “Participating in a Spartan Race as a team will help the employees in your organization build camaraderie,” says Joe De Sena, founder of Spartan Race.

Employees of fishbat, an online marketing firm in Long Island, have been training for the Citi Field Reebok Spartan Sprint on Saturday, April 13th while raising money for the charity Island Harvest.

According to Island Harvest, fishbat’s contributions will benefit “not only the hardest hit communities impacted by Hurricane Sandy, but also the 300,000 Long Islanders who knew hunger first hand before the storm hit. Every dollar raised will assist Island Harvest in providing nutritious meals and supplies to our neighbors in need.”

De Sena applauds fishbat for taking on the challenge of running a Spartan Race.
“Hopefully the employees at fishbat have been training hard. Although the Citi Field course will be less mud filled than our other races, it will challenge them physically. It’s even greater to see fishbat take it to the next level and team up with Island Harvest to raise money for a great cause! We encourage other organizations to follow suit and participate in a Spartan Race instead of going on a boring company retreat.”

Spartan Race, voted Outside Magazine’s Best Obstacle Race in 2012, is the world’s leading obstacle race series and the first of its kind to have global rankings. Spartan Race is a timed event series featuring races at three escalating distances in locations worldwide that culminate in a World Championship Finale with cash and prizes for the champions. While featuring competitive elite heats, Spartan Races are for athletes of all levels and abilities and are geared towards ripping people off their couches and into the outdoors.
