Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) April 15, 2013
On April 15, social media agency fishbat, Inc. discusses the value of Social Media Night at Citifield as part of the New York Mets’ online marketing plan.
According to the New York Mets website, fans are urged to come connect with their favorite team through social media on April 24. This is the second season that the Mets are hosting Social Media Night, a trend that has been catching on since the Pittsburg Pirates hosted one in May 2012.
The event encourages Twitter followers to watch the team’s April 24 game against the Los Angeles Dodgers and interact with the Mets on social media. By following the Twitter handles @Mets and @LosMets, fans are able to win prizes and connect with other fans. Those wishing to attend the game will have to pay $50 for a ticket. However, attendees will get the chance to mingle with other fans and Mets staff in the Bullpen Plaza. Food and drink will be served and attendees will get a chance to win bonus prizes.
Justin Maas, vice president of client relations for social media agency fishbat, states, “This is a great way for the Mets to encourage fans to interact and bring the online community onto the field. It allows the fans to feel engaged with the team, which is a great way for the Mets to continue building their online following. ”
Maas says social media can be a large contributor to ticket and product sales. “Fans feel important when they are given an inside look at their favorite sports team,” he says. “And this will not only give fans of the New York team a fun night, but also make a large contribution to the marketing efforts of the Mets.”
