Any business owner who wants what they do to matter must get onto Twitter and Facebook, and they must do so in a way that engages their customers.

Lori R Taylor, founder and CEO of REV Media Marketing, has been placed as one of the twenty most influential women on social media by a leading enterprise blog.
Forbes named Lori Taylor in its list of the Top 20 Women Social Media Power Influencers on April 4.
Taylor was named alongside other leading lights of social media, including travel blogger Ann Tran, music promoter Jessica Northey, and the go-to person for Facebook marketing, Mari Smith.
The list was put together by Haydn Shaughnessy, a 20-year veteran of media innovation and communications, with the help of Peek Analytics.
Shaughnessy said he included Taylor in the list because of her "eclectic blog covering Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and general social media tips" and for her insight and leadership in bringing together social media and direct response marketing.
"There were a few criteria for inclusion," Shaughnessy explained in a blog post announcing the top 20.
"The experts had to be writing about social media and not just marketing," he said. "We were also looking for people who create content on a regular basis – not just people who are distributing other people’s content via Twitter."
The biggest deciding factor for inclusion in the list, however, was the size and engagement of Taylor's network, and her network's network.
"Peek Analytics’ algorithm goes in search of those people who are in your network and your network’s network, and it assesses if those are real people or bots, and, if real people, how actively they participate in social media," Shaughnessy said.
On being informed of her position as a power influencer, Taylor said she was "delighted" by the news.
"This award demonstrates the power of what we're doing at REV Media Marketing," she said. "Being an active thought leader on social media really does put you ahead of the game.

In January 2012, Taylor was named in the Forbes Top 50 Social Media Power Influencers, a list also put together by Haydn Shaughnessy.
Taylor has over 60,000 Twitter followers, and teaches brands how to buzz up their business using social media marketing at her Social Caffeine blog. She has worked with brands such as Marcia Cross, star of Desperate Housewives; Tamar Geller, founder of The Loved Dog; CopsTV;, and computer retailer Micro Center; not to mention other brands who rely on her direct marketing expertise to launch their products.
