Following an article posted by discussing how extra virgin olive oil may help prevent Alzheimer’s disease, Bellucci Premium discusses the benefits of a diet rich in extra virgin olive oil.

On April 19, Extra virgin olive oil brand Bellucci Premium comments on an article published by about how a diet rich with extra virgin olive oil can be beneficial to a person’s health.

The article, titled “Explaining How Extra Virgin Olive Oil Protects against Alzheimer's Disease,” describes how recent studies are starting to unveil the component in olive oil that is responsible for preventing Alzheimer’s disease.

According to ScienceDaily, “Amal Kaddoumi and colleagues note that AD (Alzheimer’s disease) affects about 30 million people worldwide, but the prevalence is lower in Mediterranean countries. Scientists once attributed it to the high concentration of healthful monounsaturated fats in olive oil -- consumed in large amounts in the Mediterranean diet.” However, ScienceDaily reports that the component in extra virgin olive oil that helps protect against Alzheimer’s disease is actually olecanthal, not monounsaturated fats.

“The Mediterranean diet is among one of the healthiest diets in the world because it uses extra virgin olive oil in most of its recipes,” says Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Bellucci Premium. “The consumption of extra virgin olive oil can help prevent diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. These two health benefits have been known for years, but the fact that it can help protect against Alzheimer’s disease adds to the ever expanding list of reasons why extra virgin olive oil should be included in an individual’s diet.”

“Not to mention it tastes great!” adds Sexenian.

Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, that offers a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. The third type of oil Bellucci offers is the world’s finest Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown only by Italian growers in many different regions of Italy.
