Fundraising season is drawing to a close, but one of the most prestigious events – the race for Man and Woman of the Year – is yet to come. The Palm Beach Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) has assembled its list of nominees, which include an attorney from local car accident and personal injury law firm Steinger, Iscoe and Greene.
The annual Man and Woman of the Year contest is a race by local philanthropists to raise the most money for LLS – and win the coveted title. Over the coming 10 weeks, 14 nominated candidates will put their networks and their charms to the test with a blitz of galas and funding events for cancer research. The candidates consist of seven men and seven women and the leading pair take the titles.
The committee overseeing the contest is co-chaired by David Schultz, an attorney with Steinger, Iscoe and Greene. As co-chair Schultz helped choose the 14 candidates through a process designed to identify individuals most likely to make an impact on the community. One of Schult'z colleagues, Lee Levenson Jr., has made the cut.
“We're really happy to see both Lee and David involved in this noble cause,” said firm co-founder Michael Steinger. “We know that David spent long hours with the committee putting all the candidates through review, we have full confidence in Lee's ability to organize events for LLS.”
This is the 20th annual Man and Woman of the Year, making it a particularly big event.
“We're all rooting for David, of course,” Steinger said. “But really it's about those who are struggling with cancer. They are the true winners when the fundraisers are successful.”
