Laquel Wright Photography has launched a Kickstarter project http://kck.st/10wv8nK that will explore love and diversity in the San Francisco Bay Area. The project will run for 17 days and attempt to raise $5,100 to photograph and produce a full color photo book featuring 25 interracial couples in the Bay Area.
"This project filters ideas about love, equality and diversity through the lens of real people. I've seen the number of diverse couples skyrocket in our area over the past few years and want to explore their love stories." says Ms. Wright. Her goal is to show the diversity of couples in the local area, as well as to explore how they met and how their relationships work. This project is personal for Ms. Wright, who has been part of an interracial relationship for four years. Couples may volunteer to be part of the project if they live in the local area and are willing to be photographed.
Each couple will have access to a professional hair and makeup stylist before their shoot and will be photographed by Ms. Wright. Once all of the couples are photographed and interviewed, a full color hardcover photography book will be produced and offered for sale. Those who participate in the Kickstarter can reserve one early through the rewards system and each couple that participates will be given a copy as a thank you gift. Kickstarter sponsors will receive several levels of benefits, including vouchers for personal portrait sessions.
