Using LinkedIn effectively will help you to create a network of individuals who would recommend your work, and give you the opportunity to use your contacts to gain introductions to possible clients

The secrets to creating an attractive and attention-grabbing LinkedIn profile have been revealed, in a new article uploaded to Find the Edge.
Ian Brodie, an influential sales trainer, has written and published a two-part article that lays out ten simple tips for creating a profile that will effectively sell any individual's credentials.
He said: "Using LinkedIn effectively will help you to create a network of individuals who would recommend your work, and give you the opportunity to use your contacts to gain introductions to possible clients."
To achieve these benefits, he recommends revamping a tired profile, and taking full advantage of the website's functionality to interact with others.
He offers 10 tips, which include creating an eye-catching introduction, communicating with relevant contacts through unobtrusive status updates, and acting on opportunities that other people's profiles present.
He also advocates joining related groups, and networking through discussions - but warns of the need to be practical about this.
He said: "Using groups can be a great way to find out the latest news and advice from people in sectors or areas you are interested in. It’s more than possible to meet clients and generate business in this way, but be careful.
"I’ve found it’s easy to fall into the trap of simply chatting away, rather than networking or doing anything of actual use.
"One key tip is to look at the group statistics. You want to look out for groups with lots of comments, rather than lots of discussions. This suggests members are actively engaging with each other."

Kenny Goodman, founder of Find the Edge said: "Most of us have LinkedIn profiles, but how many of us can truly say we've perfected ours?
"Often, we will simply upload our CV, and leave it at that. Ian clearly explains why this is the wrong approach, and how to remedy it immediately and effectively."
