Social media opens so many doors to connect with consumers yet it is so important to identify the best ways to reach them and in a manner they will react and respond to.
(PRWEB UK) 15 April 2013
According to Econsultancy, there are varying types of social media personalities. The survey, which asked 1,500 UK adults on their behaviour and attitudes towards social media found 11 different personality types.
This includes the ultras – spending more than 2 hours a day, the deniers – consumers who pretend social media doesn’t matter to them but log on at least once a day, the dippers – occasion checkers, the virgins – new to social media, the lurkers – lack their own activity but watch others, the peacocks – popular and proud, the ranters – opinionated, the ghosts – anonymous, the informers – always announcing the hottest trends and news, the approval seekers – love retweets and likes.
The study found that all social media users fitted into at least one of these categories and as a result the study suggested the best methods for marketers to reach the different type of consumers.
This proved an interesting read for marketers, as Ben Austin, Managing Director of SEO Positive, an online promotion company explained, ‘Social media opens so many doors to connect with consumers yet it is so important to identify the best ways to reach them and in a manner they will react and respond most well too. The findings suggest treating each category different in the hope of achieving a successful marketing scheme.’
