The specialized physicians and team at Fertility Specialists of Houston (FSH) are demonstrating their support for National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) by launching an infertility awareness initiative for current patients and the Greater Houston community. National Infertility Awareness Week is April 22 – 26, 2013 and is an opportunity for couples with infertility to be supported by their families and friends and gain a greater understanding of this situation.

“The goals of National Infertility Awareness Week are about education and support, as well as to encourage the surrounding community to embrace infertility as a reality where no one should be ashamed,” states Dr. George M. Grunert, founder and program director for Fertility Specialists of Houston. “Our specific NIAW efforts at Fertility Specialists of Houston are to celebrate our current patients and to encourage those who currently do not have help to seek the answers that they need.” Dr. Grunert received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, and he is a Board-Certified reproductive endocrinologist who has been in practice since 1981.

The National Infertility Awareness Week was started by RESOLVE, which is the National Infertility Association established in 1974. Their nationwide mandate is to promote reproductive health and ensure equal access to all family-building options for men and women experiencing reproductive disorders. RESOLVE has reached out to organizations and practices associated with infertility, and has asked for support of their efforts.

“RESOLVE is an unparalleled organization and we at FSH believe in demonstrating our continuing commitment to raising awareness of infertility by supporting their efforts by working with our patients and local community,” states Dr. Suboduh Chauhan, a Board-certified Reproductive Endocrinologist at FSH. “We have several initiatives planned for our own patients to make them feel extra special during this time as well as ways to invite the entire community to learn about infertility through our free webinars.” Dr. Chauhan received his medical degree from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (England) and has been in practice for 9 years.

The webinars at Fertility Specialists of Houston will take place on Monday, April 22 and Thursday, April 25 at 5:45 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST) and will take approximately one hour. The webinar on Monday, April 22 is called “The Emotional Rollercoaster of Infertility.” The webinar on Thursday, April 25 is called “Nurturing Your Relationship During Infertility.” The webinars are open to anyone in the Greater Houston community and a person does not need to be a patient of the practice to participate.
