"A 40G inter-switch trunking solution enables a business to create a scalable architecture and allow for high-volume data-transfer between switches and tools.” - Richard Rauch, President and CEO of APCON

APCON, the industry leader in intelligent network monitoring and security support solutions, announces the release of its embedded switch software, which includes a new 40G inter-switch trunk solution to help enterprises support security and performance monitoring tools in the 40G network environment.
The increased surge of traffic driven big data presents challenges for enterprises to manage, monitor and analyze the large volume of information with their existing network monitoring tools and infrastructure. APCON is one of the only network monitoring aggregation providers offering 40G trunking today. 40G trunking enables companies to efficiently and effectively move much larger sets of data, in some cases the entire network, across a simple link. This can be used to expand the virtual capability and capacity of an aggregation switch. Before 40G trunks, network operators would need to spend precious operational time, money and effort routing numerous 1G and 10G links to different aggregation switches and network analyzer tools in different locations.
APCON’s trunking solution combines 40G blades, ports and trunking. In addition to inter-switch trunking, the latest Firmware software release includes:
- Aggregated TAP on INTELLAPATCH blades (with an INTELLAFLEX blade in the chassis) – minimizes the amount of tools and resources by aggregating multiple sources which reduces TCO
- QinQ VLAN stripping–remove up to seven VLAN tags per packet – ensures traffic goes to the correct tools which helps minimize packet loss and increase overall efficiency
- L2/L3/L4 adjustable hash for Load balancing on -18 port blades and 36 port blades – assures that the assembly of the traffic is effectively prioritized and distributed according to the needs of the customer
- Automatic redistribution using load balancing on 32 port and 40G blades – in the event of any network complications, packets get automatically redistributed, ensuring there is no loss of traffic
“Bandwidth needs are increasing prompting networks to upgrade from 10G to 40G and beyond,” said Richard Rauch, President and CEO of APCON. “It is imperative that intelligent network monitoring solutions can streamline and aggregate this influx of network traffic. A 40G inter-switch trunking solution enables a business to create a scalable architecture and allow for high-volume data-transfer between switches and tools.”
APCON will showcase 40G inter-switch trunking at Interop, Las Vegas at booth #727. To schedule a private demo, please contact APCON.
