oDesk Launches Enterprise Services Team as Adoption of Online Work Heats Up

oDesk®, the world’s largest online workplace, today announced that it has expanded its Enterprise Services team and launched a new enterprise website (http://www.odesk.com/info/enterprise) to support growing demand for online work. Customers such as AOL, Unilever and OpenTable are already using oDesk to create on-demand teams of professionals who are working for them via the Internet. The dedicated Enterprise Services support and new site will help companies interested in innovating their staffing approaches to start their own teams of online workers.

Online Work’s Growth
oDesk has seen rapid growth in adoption of online work by enterprises and growth of online work overall. Monthly revenue from enterprise customers increased more than 500% between January 2011 and January 2013. This rapid growth points to the expansion of online work from beyond early adoption into the staffing mainstream.

Huge Opportunity Remains, Especially for Enterprises
As a whole, online work is a $1 billion industry today, but independent research firm Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA) predicts that the market will be $5 billion within five years.

However, most enterprises are just learning of online work as a complement to traditional models. According to SIA, there is only 20% awareness currently among “contingency staffing buyers.”
