Beyond Sports Foundation (BSF) is pleased to announce its 2nd annual Golf Tournament for the benefit of high school student-athletes. The tournament will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Ravinia Green Country Club nestled in a premier area of Riverwoods.

Featured as part of this year’s entertainment is the first ever dunking booth held at a celebrity-driven golf tournament, edged on to showcase the pros in a different light. The BSF team will share ongoing announcements of celebrity participants and supporters. BSF, established by the owner of Executive Fitness Training Sports Performance Center, Elias Karras, has a vision to put athletically gifted students on the path to achieving lifelong success both in their sport and the classroom. Indianapolis Colts running back Robert Hughes, is an alumni of BSF and an example to the success of the program, having graduated from Hubbard High School, received a football scholarship at University of Notre Dame, graduated in three and a half years with a degree in Sociology, and now in his {third} season in the NFL.

“I’m happy and honored to be this year’s spokesperson for BSF’s 2nd Annual Golf Benefit,” stated Hughes. “The BSF program is fostered with a student first, athlete second mindset. Athletes who take the Program seriously will truly benefit from the services and exceptional resources provided.”

Hughes is excited to welcome his NFL colleagues and local celebrities to attend. Some of the talent expected and as well as some who attended last year, include Bears Pro Bowler Tim Jennings and Devin Hester, Chicago Bulls All-Star Luol Deng, along with Nathan Vasher, Tommie Harris, Johnny Knox, Jason McKie, Aja Evans, Trai Essex and Marquice Cole.

“We are extremely excited about hosting our second annual golf benefit,” stated Steven King, Executive Director of BSF. With the assistance of the monies raised from our successful inaugural event, this year we were able to increase our high school program enrollment to nearly 20 student athletes. We opened our new Beyond Sports Foundation Academic Center, which has allowed us to continue to grow and support the academic needs of current and future student athletes. Continued support from donors this year will allow us to assist amazing student athletes to reach and surpass their potential. And, most importantly to see their success beyond sports."

The Beyond Sports Foundation (BSF) is dedicated to providing academic, athletic, and social support to disadvantaged athletically-gifted students committed to pursuing NCAA Scholarships and college degrees. BSF partners provide a personalized holistic approach empowering them to achieve their objectives. The services are free for the students and one of the main goals of BSF is to ensure that all of the participants in the Foundation secure a full or partial scholarship to participate as a student-athlete at the next level.
