North Hollywood’s Annual HopeWalk Pleased to Add Children’s Obesity Fund as New Event Sponsor

Hands for Hope is pleased to welcome the Omidi brothers and the Children’s Obesity Fund as sponsors of its Annual HopeWalk and Kid’s Healthy Activity Fair. The North Hollywood family-fun event promotes healthy choices and active lifestyles for family and kids in the local community.

Hands for Hope thanks the Children’s Obesity Fund, Michael Omidi, M.D. and Julian Omidi for their sponsorship of the 13th Annual Hope Walk and Activities Fair, which will take place on June 8, 2013 in North Hollywood Park. Over one hundred runners ran last year’s 5K race and Hands for Hope is expecting more this year.

“The need for health and fitness awareness resources is tremendous, and we hope that the HopeWalk and Kid’s Healthy Activity Fair will give community members the tools they need to begin healthy lifestyles,” says Lydia Floyd for Hands for Hope. “We want to thank the Children’s Obesity Fund and the Omidi brothers for their help with this event, and we hope it is a success for everyone involved.”

The HopeWalk is an annual event designed to further health, fitness and nutritional awareness among the North Hollywood and neighboring communities. The 5k walk began in 2001 as a stand-alone event, later to branch into the Kid’s Healthy Activity Fair in 2006, where participants can learn about healthy food choices, enjoy sports and fitness activities and sample healthy foods from the local merchants.

Registration for the HopeWalk will begin at 8am on June 8th, and the walk will begin from the corner of Magnolia and Tujunga Avenues at 9am. The Healthy Activity Fair will immediately follow at North Hollywood Park.

Hands for Hope ( is a North Hollywood youth organization that is dedicated to providing scholastic, professional and lifestyle assistance to children, teenagers and young single parents. Tutoring programs, health courses, financial guidance, creative/artistic programs and career planning are offered for the purpose of preparing young people for a healthy and happy future. Co-founded by Julian Omidi and Michael Omidi, M.D., the Children’s Obesity Fund ( hopes to help reverse the trend of rising obesity rates in America. The goal of the non-profit charity is to help people fully understand the obesity issue and its dire impacts on individuals and society as a whole -- and to use that knowledge to encourage children to grow up strong and healthy.
