Activu® Corporation’s network-based visualization and collaboration solution has been selected by the City of Jersey City as part of the upgrade of its Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The EOC is an integral Control Room under the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (OEM).

Due to its strategic proximity to Manhattan and water connection to the Atlantic, the city faces potential natural and man-made risks such as storms and terrorism threats. Jersey City is also classified as one of six U.S. urban centers at greater risk of terrorist attacks. Therefore, with funds from the Department of Homeland Security, Jersey City decided to upgrade its Emergency Operations Center with state-of-the-art technology.

Jersey City was looking for a cost-effective network-centric solution that would increase situational awareness and give them the ability to share, control and exchange critical information between the EOC and first responders in real time. Activu met all of these requirements and more. The city also selected Activu’s Mobility module so field personnel and decision-makers outside the EOC can share critical information and visuals in real time, where first responders can send and receive video, images and data to/from the EOC for total situational awareness, speedy decision-making and optimal response.

The upgrade includes a new video wall which is a 3-high by 4-wide matrix of 62-inch high-resolution WUXGA (1920 x 1200) Mitsubishi LED cubes connected to Activu software to monitor cameras and other information sources across the city. The EOC also has four 52-inch LCD panels and two 46-inch LCD panels (also connected to Activu for identical feeds as the central video wall), wireless tablets and networked workstations.

“Activu has proven itself as the best situational awareness, intelligent visualization and response solution for mission-critical operations. Our selection by Jersey City EOC and similar EOCs across the U.S. confirms the suitability of our solution in cost-effectively addressing city safety and security. Increasingly, clients are realizing the benefits of our Mobility solution for field collaboration and the logic that Mobility is vital to improving total situational awareness and optimizing response through speedy decision-making and resource allocation. Through this win, we look forward to establishing a long-standing relationship with Jersey City, learning from their feedback and supporting them to the best of our abilities.” – Activu CEO, Paul Noble.
