5th Planet Games, Inc., a leading developer of core, free-to-play games on social and mobile platforms, announced today that it has hired former gaming industry journalist Mike Thompson as its new creative writer. Most recently serving as the lead writer for Inside Network’s Inside Social Games, Thompson will be responsible for developing storylines and writing narrative for 5th Planet’s upcoming new titles.

At Inside Network, Thompson wrote and edited articles on the social and mobile gaming industry, including news, reviews, interviews, previews and features. He has also written for gaming publications such as GameShark, The Escapist, Gamezebo, Ars Technica and others, and has served as a freelance photographer and illustrator for a number of online and print publications. Thompson received his BA in History from Whitman College and BS in Advertising, Journalism, Photography from Northern Arizona University.
