The real innovators are the ones that are doing something for the first time. That's what we want to showcase in the Lightning Bolt Awards.
South Bend, Ind. (PRWEB) April 17, 2013
techie.com, a destination for disruptive technology and emerging trends, today announced an open call for entries for its annual Lightning Bolt Awards. The award program, designed to showcase some of the most innovative companies, technologists, and ideas, seeks to showcase some of the most exciting, up-and-coming tech that hasn't necessarily made the headlines.
"We're looking for new ideas," said techie.com editor-in-chief Dan Blacharski. "Conventional business advice says to find a company that's successful, then copy it, but that advice leads to nothing more than a lot of redundant ideas that are, by definition, too late to market. The real innovators are the ones that are doing something for the first time. That's what we want to showcase in the Lightning Bolt Awards."
Applicants are encouraged to submit their entries early, at http://lightingboltaward.wufoo.com/forms/techiecoms-lightning-bolt-award/. There is no charge for entering. On the entry form, applicants get 250 words to describe the innovative nature of their companies, technologies, or services. Entries will be accepted until May 13. At that time, public voting begins. "We want to encourage input from our readers," added Blacharski. "Entrants are encouraged to engage their own social media crowds to vote." Voting takes place on techie.com's Facebook page under the "Lightning Bolt Award" tab. Voters can review all of the entries on the tab site, and cast their votes up until June 17.
Once public voting ends on June 17, finalists are selected based on popular vote, and the techie.com editors will select winners in multiple categories, as well as an overall "Lightning Bolt Award of the Year" winner. Final awards will be announced on June 24.
"Winners will gain the privilege of displaying the "Lightning Bolt Award Winner" badge on their websites, and will also be profiled on the front page of techie.com," said Blacharski. "We'll also have attractive Lightning Bolt Award trophies for winners, along with tee-shirts sporting the lightning bolt award logo."
Entries can showcase an innovative tech company, tech-focused consultancy, a specific piece of hardware or software, a research project, or a groundbreaking book on an exciting tech trend.
