Daily Grommet, product launch platform and online discovery site for innovative and undiscovered products, is partnering with a Stanford engineer to launch ambitious, new to market toy product, GoldieBlox. Goldie Blox is a construction toy and book series aimed at nurturing interest and knowledge of engineering in young girls. News publications such as Forbes, TIME, The Atlantic and WIRED are touting Goldie as the the perfect toy to inspire future, female engineers.
Debbie Sterling, creator of GoldieBlox is an engineer herself and was bothered by how few female engineers there were. She felt the profession needed a stronger female perspective so this led her to create a girls toy with a role model named Goldie. She hopes that when young girls play with Goldie Blox, they’ll increase their confidence, problem solving ability and nurture a love for engineering. “The support we’ve received from the press has been thrilling, but nothing compares to the feedback we’ve received from the parents of kids that love playing with GoldieBlox. We have a wall in the office covered with pictures that they’ve sent us; these girls are the reason we’re here” says Sterling.
Over a million people watched their Kickstarter video and the response by children who’ve played with the toy has been strong, providing enthusiastic testimonials for the game.
