Whilst this move will undoubtedly upset some people who believe that they are at the mercy of their genetics, the truth is that behavioural factors play the larger role in obesity.

The head of Samoa Air, which flies domestically and to American Samoa, has defended the new scheme calling it the ‘fairest way of travelling’. Prices are now based on the combined weight of the passenger and their baggage.

Under the new model, some families with children would now enjoying cheaper fares as well as those who add less to the weight of the plane.

Co-creator of DietAssist, Rob Woodgate, says, "It’s becoming clear that the growing global obesity problem not only puts a strain on the body, but also healthcare and other services.”

“Whilst this move will undoubtedly upset some people who believe that they are at the mercy of their genetics, the truth is that behavioural factors play the larger role in obesity.”

“At DietAssist, we teach people how to lose weight more easily by taking conscious control over their natural behavioural tendencies."

It aims to help them to take back control over their eating behaviours and teaches them to act more appropriately in relation to food and eating in the future.

The DietAssist programme is the result of over 20 years experience of helping people to lose weight effectively, and uses the latest psychological techniques to avoid the self sabotage and demotivation that dieters commonly experience.

The DietAssist programme helps dieters strengthen their motivation and resolve, and creates the optimum psychological state for success.
