Unique design provides flexibility and high-density for fiber applications in a small amount of rack space. The shelf also facilitates a clear migration path from current to future technology, minimizing wasted investment.

All Systems Broadband recently announced the availability of its 4RU High-Density Shelf. The shelf exploits the extremely compact size of the company’s HiD4 cassette module to provide hundreds of fiber connections in space that is roughly one third of that which would be required of similar products.

“While this new shelf takes full advantage of our HiD4 cassette,” said Mike Grice, Vice President, Product Development, All Systems Broadband, “it has been designed to also allow use of currently available fiber modules such as those used in LGX® environments. As a result service providers have a graceful migration path, or the ability to use both the older technology and this new solution side-by-side.”

Because the depth of the HiD4 cassette module is less than half that of similar industry products, the engineers at All Systems Broadband were able to build this shelf to accommodate modules on both the front and rear sides. This approach doubled the capacity of the already compact shelf.

The shelf will fit in a number of applications such as campus and business park environments in addition to the more traditional head end or central office environments. Upon introduction of this product, the company has gained approval from a major carrier, and anticipates additional approvals, for the shelf and the associated high density cassettes to better serve the needs of its customers.

With service providers fighting for every business customer, and looking to serve them in as cost-effective a way as possible,” said JD Smith, VP of Sales, “we are finding that flexible, scalable solutions allow our customers to provide their customers highly advanced fiber services, while minimizing up-front investment.”

LGX is a registered trademark of OFS FITEL, LLC.

All Systems Broadband, a private company, is a provider of custom-engineered solutions and an independent manufacturer of connectivity products for the evolving voice, video, and data industries.
