ION Welcomes Civic Entrepreneur Sonja Enfinger, Corporate Attorney Sarah Ernst to Board of Directors

New Board Members Representing Alabama and Georgia Help ION Equip Investors, Executives, Search Firms with Action Items to Improve Gender Diversity in Corporate Boardrooms

Sonja and Sarah will help ION provide business leaders with specific and measurable tactics to build gender-diverse executive suites and boards.

ION appointed Sonja Enfinger and Sarah Ernst as board members representing ION Member Organizations Women’s Economic Development Council (WEDC, Alabama) and OnBoard (Georgia), respectively. The new directors will help position ION as a resource for investors, executives, search firms and thought leaders interested in using boardroom gender diversity to improve financial performance and company culture.

Ms. Enfinger is the EVP of Digheon, an international healthcare company, as well as the CEO of the Huntsville/Madison County franchise of The Business/Menu Card Holder, which provides local businesses with long-term advertising. She is past president of The Women’s Business Center of North Alabama and has served as a director and chair of several organizations, including WEDC, The State Board of Physical Therapy and The Salvation Army. A member and co-chair of “Young Leaders of The WEDC,” Ms. Enfinger serves on The Women’s Guild of The Huntsville Museum of Art and is a graduate of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County, where she served as past president of both the Flag Ship and Master’s programs. She has been a Rotarian for 13 years and currently serves as the Director for Club Services. Ms. Enfinger is widely recognized in the Huntsville business community as an effective civic volunteer.

An accomplished attorney, Ms. Ernst is a partner at Alston & Bird LLP and a director for OnBoard. Ms. Ernst concentrates her legal practice on public and private company securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, and joint ventures, with an emphasis in the health care sector. She also regularly advises legal clients on Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) compliance, reporting obligations and corporate governance matters.
