Paso Underground Opening in May!
While the details are still very underground, here are a few tidbits to share about Paso’s newest downtown tasting room, Paso Underground. Four of Paso Robles’ most talked about up-and-coming winemakers have joined forces for this new and highly anticipated tasting room including Aaron, Clos Solene, Edmond August and Turtle Rock Vineyards, each producing less than 500 cases per year. BarrelHouse Brewing Co. is on the Scene
After years of planning, blood, sweat and beer, the Central Coast’s newest and most unique craft brewery is open. This brewery consists of a 17-barrel brew house, a bottling operation and a half-acre, beautiful outdoor beer garden. Outside is a flatbed truck used as a stage for live music, surrounded by seating and a large grassy area for picnicking. A pond and gorgeous waterfall create the perfect ambiance. Newly Remodeled “Club Clautiere”
The fun has expanded at Clautiere Vineyards! Known for their room full of silly dress-up gear, they have recently completed an extensive renovation of their large barn which still has all the famous charm and whimsy of the original tasting room, but with plenty more room. Complete with a stage outfitted with multi-channel surround-sound for special recorded or live music, this larger space can host special events for groups from 10 to 100. Ancient Peaks Guided Vineyard and Food Pairing Tours
Experience a 90-minute vineyard tour like none other at Ancient Peaks’ Estate Margarita Vineyard. Artisan Prepares for their Move
The James Beard nominated Artisan restaurant will open in its new location at 843 12th Street in June, placing it directly in the heart of Downtown Paso Robles. Artisan is largely credited for helping to place Paso Robles on the map as a culinary destination as well as a critically acclaimed leader in the farm-to-table dining movement. In addition to this exciting news, owners Chris and Mike Kobayashi recently announced that hospitality veteran Daniel Green has joined the team as the restaurant’s General Manager. Green arrives to Artisan after four years at the award-winning Eleven Madison Park in Manhattan where he served as Assistant General Manager. Paso Robles Inn Organic Garden- Summer Bounty
Paso Robles Inn’s Chef’s Organic Kitchen Garden has been planted for a summer bounty! Now in its second year, the garden, designed by Melanie Blankenship of Nature’s Touch Nursery in Templeton, shares the three-acre, manicured gardens of the historic Inn and is steps from Chef Kevin Fryburger’s kitchen for easy access. This year’s planting includes a variety of melons, tomatoes, squash, eggplant, cucumbers, brussel sprouts, carrots, peppers, spices and sunflowers. Chef Fryburger’s goal is to use his fresh, organic, pesticide-free fruits and vegetables in menu items every day at the Steakhouse. Sugar + Spoon Caramels
Life in Paso Robles just got a little bit sweeter when Anne Marquart decided to continue her Great-Grandma Edith’s tradition of making fresh, handmade caramels. Edith’s caramel was a huge hit with friends and family many moons ago; 80 years later, it’s making its debut in Paso Robles. While they don’t have a retail location, these caramels can be found at the Country Farm & Craft Market every Saturday in the Downtown Park in Paso Robles, Vivant Fine Cheese, Calcareous Tasting Room, Meadow Muffins Antique Shop and the Carnegie Library. A New Direction for Pasolivo
The planned renovation of the award-winning Pasolivo Olive Oil Ranch is underway and at the helm is the new owner, Brian Dirk who is dedicated to preserving the existing olive oil business while expanding the visitor experience. Dirk’s team plans to remove foreign vegetation and reinstate indigenous plant life and flora, including rosemary, sage and lavender. New walking trails will enable the public to enjoy the scenic vistas for both recreation and meditation. More olive groves are planned to expand their olive oil production. The tasting room will be redesigned utilizing reclaimed woods, solar integration and repurposed materials. The barn, which is used for gatherings, presentations, musical performances and exhibits, will be renovated to preserve the original structure while updating it with fresh contemporary elements. Laraneta Winery Now Offers Vineyard and Olive Orchard Tours
Guests can now experience the magical world of wine and olives all in one gorgeous vineyard. Vina Robles Amphitheatre
The grand opening for the highly anticipated Vina Robles Amphitheatre is scheduled for early July 2013. This incredible, one of a kind amphitheatre will seat 3,300 concert-goers creating a unique experience by pairing exceptional wine with an intimate live music performance. Promoter partners, AEG Live and Prescient Entertainment, are busy booking shows for the inaugural season, which will include 15-20 shows of all genres. The season calendar will be released early May, at which point tickets will become available for purchase. A Night under the Canopy and Summer Camps at THE ZOO Paso Robles
Grab a sleeping bag and prepare to enjoy the great outdoors - jungle style! Guests will hear the macaws sing, wolves howl, tigers roar and watch the night creatures come alive during this exotic overnight adventure at THE ZOO Paso Robles. This camping experience includes a flashlight led tour of the zoo at night. In an effort to keep up with Paso Robles’ bustling wine country and the soon to open Vina Robles Amphitheatre, the owners of La Quinta Inn & Suites have decided to expand once again! This planned expansion includes 37 new rooms, some of which will include luxurious Villa Suites with special features such as full size balconies, fireplaces, and full kitchenettes. The Paso Robles Inn Renovation is Underway
The historic Paso Robles Inn, renowned for their therapeutic mineral spa tubs, is currently undergoing a multi-phase renovation program slated to be completed this July. This 98-room historic inn has been welcoming guests for more than a century; guests now have something new to look forward to this summer. The planned renovation includes exterior paint and décor along with new guestroom furniture, soft goods and the hotel’s signature mineral hot tubs are being replaced with new spa tubs. Additional features that are hallmarks of the Paso Robles Inn include gardens, streams, koi ponds and majestic oak trees surrounding the Inn. New Bridal Suite at Silver Horse Winery
Perched high on a hilltop overlooking acres of grapevines with dazzling views of the Pleasant Valley Wine Trail, Silver Horse Winery is putting the finishing touches on their new bridal suite to be completed in May. The property currently boasts two event areas that can accommodate 40 to 400 people for events and weddings, along with a huge lawn custom made for a garden wedding.
