Gaining some insight into how consumers spend their time online is always beneficial for online marketing companies

Researchers have revealed exactly what users do whilst browsing the internet. Findings showed that a quarter of time is spent on social networking sites, followed by entertainment and shopping sites. The study looked at the behaviour of 25 million internet users worldwide and found that the UK was the most prolific online shopping nation – even more than North America and Australia.

Additional findings showed high interest in the ‘other’ category where consumers were said to spend 19 minutes of an internet hour, as well as news and media and lifestyle, business and travel.

The findings made an interesting read for SEO Positive, of the UK’s most established online promotion companies. The company offers pay per click management, search engine optimisation and social media management. The results gave insight into when and where consumers should be targeted for advertising and marketing purposes as Ben Austin, Managing Director of SEO Positive explained, ‘Gaining some insight into how consumers spend their time online is always beneficial for online marketing companies as it means we can reassess and target certain areas and sites. Social media was popular as was shopping and entertainment – all areas that are particularly competitive in online marketing.’

SEO Positive continues to follow internet-based news and aims to use the findings to benefit their clients and the company itself.

SEO Positive was established in 2007 in Chelmsford, Essex with the aim of bringing effective yet affordable online marketing services to companies from all industries and backgrounds. The company offers a huge range of services including search engine optimisation, Pay Per Click account management, social media marketing and website design.
