Our physicians and technologists are among the best in the business.

Molecular Pathology Laboratory Network (MPLN) announced today that it will honor employees as they celebrate the laboratory industry along with hundreds of thousands of their peers during this year’s 38th Annual Medical Laboratory Professional Week April 22-26, 2013.

Laboratory professionals at MPLN focus on women’s health and oncology, performing a comprehensive selection of molecular diagnostics, specialty anatomic pathology, flow cytometry, fluorescence in situ hybridization and cytogenetic testing. “Our physicians and technologists are among the best in the business,” said MPLN CEO Dr. Roger Hubbard, PhD. “Lab Week is a great way to recognize and honor our employees who continually strive to deliver the very best in patient care”.

Originated in 1975 as National Medical Laboratory Week to provide increased public understanding and awareness of the laboratory profession, the celebration has evolved into Medical Laboratory Professionals Week with the intent of focusing on the individuals with the expertise to perform laboratory testing. Clinical laboratory science plays a key role in diagnosing and preventing disease, and often goes unnoticed by the public even though there are approximately 300,000 medical technologists across the country.

MPLN will be recognizing their employees each day during Lab Week by hosting a different activity dedicated to the hard work and service of its employees. “Approximately 80% of clinical decisions are based upon medical laboratory data. Given the current health care climate and the public’s demand for quality healthcare, we think it’s more important than ever to acknowledge the people behind the scenes in our laboratory who work every day with a patient-focused approach,” explains Dr. Hubbard.
