New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) April 17, 2013
Following the March 21 launch of Haystack EDU, a national online platform that helps match teachers with schools and other opportunities, the site has built excitement around the concept by performing well at various pitch competitions.
Haystack EDU was named co-winner of the New Orleans Entrepreneur Week Power Pitch. This pitch consisted of 12 angel ready companies across industries. As a prize, Haystack EDU will receive an all expense paid trip to San Francisco to meet with investors.
“It is thrilling to be named as a winner amongst such an outstanding group of companies,” explains Haystack EDU Founder Tom Hayes. “This is a great validation of our concept and I look forward to watching it grow.” The night before, Haystack EDU also took second prize and won $5,000 at the 4.0 Schools education pitch.
Haystack EDU is the place for teachers to understand all their options as it is the first site built for teachers that has profiles on all 130,000 schools across the country. This free site for teachers allows them to create a profile to tell their story, search and filter for opportunities based on criteria that matter to them, and show interest in schools through a feature similar to a twitter follow.
After being live for just about 1 month, there are approximately 500 teachers and 150 schools actively utilizing the site across the country. “We are working to implement features on the site that not only provide teachers value if they are looking for a job but that can help them in their daily lives as teachers,” Hayes explains. Haystack EDU has launched an educator resource guide that provides links to helpful resources for teachers.
Haystack EDU has the opportunity to continue the streak as the company has also been named a finalist of The Domain Companies New Orleans Entrepreneur Challenge and will pitch for $20,000 on April 19, 2013 as well as being named a feature company in the Investor Circle Entrepreneur Showcase in San Francisco on May 9, 2013.
