I hope my story and receiving this award will inspire others to follow their dreams
Manhattan, KS (PRWEB) April 18, 2013
GTM Sportswear® and the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) are pleased to announce senior athlete Erin DiMeglio as the March 2013 GTM Sportswear Athlete of the Month. She will be recognized at a press conference at South Plantation High School, Plantation, FL on April 25, 2013 at 2:10 p.m.
“To receive such an honorable and prestigious award means the world to me,” said DiMeglio. “I hope my story and receiving this award will inspire others to follow their dreams.”
DiMeglio lettered all four years in basketball and was the first female high school quarterback in Florida. She maintains a 4.35 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and received the 2012 Florida Achievement Award. DiMeglio has been accepted into the University of Central Florida and plans to try out for their Division One basketball program.
“In addition to athletics, I am proud of my accomplishments in the classroom,” said DiMeglio. “I try to lead by example. It is as important to take care of your body as it is your mind.”
“The National High School Coaches Association is proud to recognize this young woman for her outstanding performances, not only on the court and field, but in the school and community as well,” said Bobby Ferraro, Jr., executive director of the National High School Coaches Association. “It’s truly an honor to recognize an athlete of this stature.”
"Erin is an outstanding example of what a leader and student athlete should represent,” said Jana Thomas, advertising and communications manager at GTM Sportswear. “We are honored to be able to present the GTM Sportswear Athlete of the Month Award to Erin in response to her commitment and dedication to her sport, her team and her community.”
NHSCA and GTM Sportswear honor one deserving high school athlete each month from September 2012 through April 2013. NHSCA coaches nominate commendable athletes through the NHSCA website. Each month, six finalists are selected by the NHSCA and presented via ballot to a group of high school sports writers, high school coaches and NHSCA and GTM Sportswear representatives to choose the winner. Out of the eight recipients of the monthly award, one athlete will be chosen as the GTM Sportswear Athlete of the Year in May 2013.
