Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 18, 2013
Roland Garcia, a shareholder with the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been selected to serve as a Regional Judge in the White House Fellows Program selection process.
“Roland is a great choice to help select candidates for this important program, and I am confident that his experience and leadership will enable him to make valuable contributions, promoting quality and diversity,” said Doug Atnipp, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Houston office.
The White House Fellowship Program was created in 1964 by President Lyndon B. Johnson to provide exceptional young men and women with first-hand experience in the process of governing the nation at the highest levels of the Federal Government. The program is non-partisan and has been supported by every president, of both parties, since its creation. Each year, between 11 and 19 Fellows are selected and are placed in the offices of Cabinet Secretaries, senior White House staff, and other high-level Executive Branch officials. This is a highly competitive program, which attracts some of our nation’s most promising young leaders.
Garcia has tried lawsuits in state and federal trial courts, and has argued appeals in state and federal appellate courts. He has received numerous honors, is a community leader, and is active in local, state and national politics, serving on numerous finance and steering committees of office holders and candidates. Garcia was the first minority lawyer to be elected President of the Houston Bar Association and has also served as President of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and the Hispanic Bar Association. He currently serves as Chairman of the Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Board.
