Climate Change Dogma Killing the Economy as EU Carbon Crashes on Vote against High CO2 Prices says Friends of Science

Carbon prices in the European Union crashed up to 45 per cent as Members of the European Parliament voted against a climate change policy of high prices on carbon dioxide (CO2), due the burden on economy, industry and families. Friends of Science will host Dr. Benny Peiser May 14, 2013 in Calgary to speak on “To Heat or Eat: Europe’s Failed Climate Policies” at the 10th Annual Friends of Science Luncheon.

Friends of Science has been reviewing climate science for over a decade. They conclude the sun is the main driver of climate change, not CO2.

Canada and the US must learn from the UK's failed climate policy experience...We’ve had 16 years with no global warming. We must abandon climate change dogma. It’s all cost and no benefit.

As Canada faces increased pressure from outside forces to set up national carbon emissions climate change policies to theoretically 'stop global warming,' Friends of Science point to Europe.

The EU carbon emissions market is crashing in the wake of a vote against a rise in carbon prices and continued economic decline. Thousands of deaths were caused by ‘too much green energy’ during the recent cold snap, according to a Sunday Telegraph editorial of March 24, 2013 for those caught in a ‘heat or eat crisis.’

“Canada and the US must learn from the UK's failed climate policy experience,” says Len Maier, President of Friends of Science. “We’ve had 16 years with no global warming. We must abandon climate change dogma. It’s all cost and no benefit. That’s why we are bringing Dr. Peiser of the UK’s Global Warming Policy Foundation to speak on May 14, 2013 for the Friends of Science 10th Annual Luncheon at the Met Centre in Calgary, Alberta."

The UK Sunday Telegraph editorial calls for “The first priority must be to repeal the Climate Change Act of 2008, with its brutal, punishing targets; reducing carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050, and 26 per cent by 2020.”

UK wind-power tax subsidies and the forced closure of coal-fired power stations ruined energy security. The UK’s 4,000 wind turbines provided as low as 0.3% of the electrical power requirements during those extreme winter conditions.

The carbon market has been described as “...the lack of delivery of an invisible substance to no one...” in “Conning the Climate” by Mark Schapiro in Harper’s Magazine, February 2010.

According to the decade of climate science review done by the Friends of Science, the sun is the main driver of climate change, not you and not CO2.

Therefore, according to Maier, there is no reason for climate change policies or carbon emissions trade or taxes. "Responsible environmental care should continue in all other regards."

“Global warming has not happened as predicted by climate models,” says Ken Gregory, director of Friends of Science. “Declining upper atmosphere water vapor offsets most of the presumed warming effect of CO2 emissions and allows heat to escape to space.

According to Gregory, clouds act to regulate earth's temperature, especially in the tropics. Warmer temperatures cause more clouds, reflecting the solar heat back out to space.

“We must not make the same mistakes as Europe,” says Maier.

About Friends of Science
Friends of Science have spent a decade reviewing a broad spectrum of literature on climate change and have concluded the sun is the main driver of climate change, not carbon dioxide (CO2). The core group of the Friends of Science is made up of retired earth and atmospheric scientists. Membership is open to the public.
