Now I am more confident that I CAN do things if I WANT them bad enough.

On April 23, Spartan Race shares Sharla Hoff’s journey to becoming a powerful Spartan woman.

In another addition to Spartan Race’s Tales of the Chicked series, Sharla Hoffman shares her life changing experience at the Arizona Reebok Spartan Race. When Hoff signed up to participate one week before the race was set to take place, she was not physically fit and was dealing with numerous health problems. Hoff felt nervous and apprehensive on race day, but she also felt pride for her son, who was also running.

When Hoff finished, she recognized her own accomplishment. “Nothing prepared me for that moment when I saw the FINISH line just past the wall and barbed wire,” she said. “I was so exhausted but I knew I had to finish.”

Hoff initially joined the race as a reward for her son. “I guess this race was MY reward, not his,” she notes. “Now I am more confident that I CAN do things if I WANT them bad enough.” Since the race, she has lost 9 inches around her waist by changing her diet and exercise routine. She even went from mud running to participating in the Biggest Loser Off-Road Challenge in Las Vegas. Hoff credits Spartan Race for lighting a fire in her to fight for what she wants to achieve.

“One of our goals is to promote health and fitness,” says Joe De Sena, founder of Spartan Race. “We are proud to have such a positive influence on our participants.”
