“We are excited to be opening our second location in the Portland area,” says Free People Director of Stores, Beth Wehagen. “We feel at home in the area. The creative and laid-back culture is a great fit for the Free People brand.”

Specialty clothing brand, Free People, will open doors to its 80th boutique in the upscale Bridgeport Village Shopping Center on Friday, April 19th, 2013. The brand will add a unique mix of bohemian apparel to the outdoor shopping mall. Ranging from dresses and tees, to a festival and beach-inspired assortment, the shop will be a must-stop for locals in search of upcoming summer fashion.

On opening day, celebrations will include morning refreshments from local favorite, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, a hair chalking and braiding station, and a Free People nail polish giveaway for the first 100 customers.

Interior elements of the store are elegantly designed to create a backdrop for Free People’s ever-changing merchandise and creative displays. Hand-carved teak double doors lead shoppers into the space where they’ll find walls made of clean white finishes and textures. Along with the simple backdrop, elements of reclaimed wood and raw roofer plank sprinkle their way throughout. Natural light bounces through the sun-drenched atrium space, displaying merchandise in its truest form.

Year-round, the location will carry an assortment of apparel, outerwear, and accessories. However, the initial assortment will feature concept collections, including the Dress Shop, Festival Shop, Tee Shop, and Beach-inspired shop. Each category encompasses a variety of silhouettes and innovative detailing. In dresses, one can expect fit n’ flare or maxi shapes, while the Festival Shop serves a tougher side with touches of military and bold, boho accessories. For those looking to play it cool this summer, both the Beach and Tee Shop assortments include feminine tops and novelty knits. The pieces pair back nicely to the store’s collection of destroyed denim cutoffs and jeans.

Each store has a team of expert stylists on hand to help customers get their desired Free People look. Customers can also get inspiration online with FP Me, Free People’s brand new Style Community that offers fans a way to share their personal style, create looks, curate collections, and interact with one another.
