ING U.S. today announced that the company will celebrate Earth Day with a week-long program of events across its campuses, beginning Friday, April 19, through Friday, April 26. ING U.S. joins more than one 1 billion people of all nationalities and backgrounds from around the globe participating and voicing their appreciation for the planet, according to the Earth Day Network.

“Our focus on environmental sustainability requires a corporate commitment as well as cultural integration that includes continuous improvement, awareness and, most importantly, action. We pride ourselves on providing opportunities for employees to participate and learn about preserving the environment,” said Rhonda Mims, president of the ING Foundation and head of the ING U.S. Office of Corporate Responsibility. “As part of that process, we recognize Earth Day with a week’s worth of earth-friendly events so our employees learn about using less and recycling more, not just on April 22, but every day.”

Throughout the week, ING U.S. employees will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities, including: sustainable transportation surveys, energy pledges, photo contests, brown-bag learning sessions, lights-out hours and recycling collections. Multiple planting and clean-up volunteer events through Community Partners, the employee volunteer organizations of ING U.S., are also planned in West Chester, Pa.; Scottsdale, Ariz.; Atlanta; Windsor, Conn.; Minneapolis; New York; Braintree, Mass.; Des Moines, Iowa; and Jacksonville, Fla.
